How Deel Pays
Deel is private and files no proxy, so this report rebuilds a D1 to D11 research ladder from official job-posting ranges and employee records, prices it across 16 markets in 13 countries, and sets private-company equity on a reported four-year vest against the FY2026 H-1B wage file.
Band Hierarchy
Deel has never published internal band codes. The D1 to D11 architecture is a research normalization built from Deel's own job-level guidance, official job advertisements and employee-reported pay. It is useful for comparison and it is not Deel's grading system.

Hierarchy qualifications and legacy structures
- Deel's published job-level guidance describes an individual contributor path of junior, specialist, senior and lead, staff or principal, and a management path of manager, senior manager, director, senior director, vice president, senior vice president, executive vice president and C-suite. That guidance is Deel-authored advice for its customers and does not name Deel's own internal codes.
- The same guidance states that global compensation bands typically vary by geography, which is the only company statement in the file that supports a location-adjusted model at all.
- Official Deel postings quote one US dollar reference range across every permitted hiring location and skill profile. The range therefore spans several of the bands used here and cannot be read as a city band.
- The crosswalk is most reliable for engineering, product and operations titles that appear in both postings and salary records, and least reliable for sales, where base and on-target earnings are mixed together in public data.
- Deel has acquired several businesses, including the compensation-management startup Assemble in December 2024. No public source maps inherited grades, retention grants or title conversions onto a harmonized ladder.
- The C-suite tier is deliberately absent from the pay ladder. Carrying a worldwide executive row would have forced every location's factor toward one at the top and produced impossible offshore cells.
Peer-level mapping
| Band | Archetype | Peer mapping | Caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| D1 | Entry / Junior | Entry or graduate grade on a generic market ladder | Deel publishes no crosswalk to any other employer's levels. The label describes scope, not a named equivalence.Modelled at 1.05 times the normalized global reference; no Deel posting publishes an entry-level range. |
| D2 | Associate / Specialist | Associate or second-rung grade on a generic market ladder | A sales development representative at this band carries a commission plan that a coordinator does not, so the cash mix differs sharply inside one row.Anchored to the lower half of the $30,000–$70,000 APAC implementation consultant posting range and US sales development observations of roughly $69,000–$108,000 total. |
| D3 | Professional / Engineer I | Professional or L3 grade on a generic market ladder | This is the first band where employee records show any equity at all, and only selectively.Anchored to the mid-point of the $30,000–$70,000 APAC implementation range scaled to the US anchor and to entry software observations. |
| D4 | Experienced / Engineer II | Experienced or L4 grade on a generic market ladder | The India record for this exact title is the single best offshore data point in the whole file and sits above the modelled band.Cross-checked against an India Software Engineer II record of about ₹58.1 lakh base with ₹11.2 lakh of stock and a Bengaluru record of about ₹62.4 lakh base with ₹20.5 lakh of stock. |
| D5 | Senior | Senior or L5 grade on a generic market ladder | Deel's own Senior Backend Engineer posting spans $60,000 to $130,000 worldwide, which is a permitted-location range rather than a San Francisco band.Anchored to the official Senior Backend Engineer range of $60,000–$130,000, a US software median of about $192,000, UK senior engineer records of £69,000–£143,000 and a Canadian senior package near C$211,000. |
| D6 | Lead / Staff | Staff, lead or first management grade on a generic market ladder | Two official Deel postings anchor this band directly, which makes it the best-evidenced row on the ladder.Anchored to the official Staff Product Manager range of $100,000–$140,000 and the official Staff Engineer range of $80,000–$170,000. |
| D7 | Principal / Manager | Principal individual contributor or established manager grade | Above this point the individual contributor path thins out in public evidence and almost every observation is a management title.Interpolated between the Staff Engineer posting range and the official Senior Manager, People Technology range of $90,000–$150,000 scaled to the US anchor. |
| D8 | Senior Manager | Senior manager grade on a generic market ladder | The one official posting at this title carries a $90,000–$150,000 range, well below the modelled San Francisco median, because it spans every permitted hiring location.Anchored to the official Senior Manager, People Technology posting at $90,000–$150,000 and to US management salary observations. |
| D9 | Director | Director grade on a generic market ladder | Equity becomes the largest single component of the modelled package here, and its terms are the least observable part of the offer.Interpolated between the Senior Manager posting range and the official Senior Director, Operations range of $170,000–$200,000. |
| D10 | Senior Director / VP | Senior director or vice president grade on a generic market ladder | Deel's published Senior Director range is cash only. The modelled total adds a private equity component that no posting quantifies.Anchored to the official Senior Director, Operations posting at $170,000–$200,000 scaled to the US anchor and to the lower half of the Head of Consumer Products range. |
| D11 | SVP / EVP / GM | Business-unit executive grade on a generic market ladder | This is the highest band with any Deel-published number. The C-suite tier above it has no public figure of any kind and is deliberately absent from this ladder.Anchored to two official postings: General Manager, EOR at $250,000–$300,000 and Head of Consumer Products at $325,000–$500,000. |
Critical evidence warning
Deel is a private company. It publishes no salary structure, no band minimums or midpoints, no bonus grid and no equity plan, and it is under no obligation to. Every figure on this ladder is either an official job-posting reference range, an employee-submitted record, or a calibrated model built on one of those two. Treat the band codes as a research vocabulary for comparing offers, not as something to quote back to a Deel recruiter.
Compensation by Band — San Francisco
Low / median / high annual values at 1.00× base and 1.00× total-compensation factors versus San Francisco. Total equals base plus bonus plus annualized equity.

Total Compensation Range by Band
Total compensation in San Francisco across the employee bands. Ranges are planning envelopes around the median, not offer bands.
Global Footprint & Pay Arbitrage
Deel is remote-first and says it employs about 7,000 people across more than 100 countries. It publishes no headcount by city, so this footprint is a calibration sample of sixteen markets rather than an office list, anchored on the San Francisco headquarters reference.
Office and market catalogue — calibration factors versus San Francisco
| Location | Likely office profile | Presence | Base | TC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
San Francisco United States · USD | Headquarters reference for product, executive and commercial roles | Official H-1B filing address and US job postings | 1.00× | 1.00× |
New York United States · USD | Client-facing commercial and leadership roles; the largest historical visa worksite | 33 historical H-1B worksite records, the highest of any Deel location | 0.98× | 0.98× |
Miami United States · USD | Commercial and client-facing roles in a lower-cost US market | Scope location only; no city-specific Deel pay observation was found | 0.86× | 0.86× |
Bangalore India · INR | Technology, operations and regional delivery; the strongest non-US engineering sample | Direct employee salary records for Bengaluru engineering plus APAC job postings | 0.48× | 0.48× |
London United Kingdom · GBP | EMEA hub for commercial, product and operations roles | UK employee salary records, sales-rating data and official EMEA postings | 0.81× | 0.81× |
Sydney Australia · AUD | ANZ commercial and operations hub with the richest sales-compensation evidence | Australian employee salary records, sales-rating data and official ANZ postings | 0.81× | 0.81× |
Melbourne Australia · AUD | ANZ commercial and operations, calibrated slightly below Sydney | Melbourne employee salary records; thinner sample than Sydney | 0.78× | 0.78× |
Tel Aviv Israel · ILS | Product, engineering and leadership tied to the founding team's footprint | Sparse Israeli salary data; no official Deel Israel pay range was found | 0.76× | 0.76× |
Singapore Singapore · SGD | APAC commercial and implementation hub named in official APAC postings | Sales-rating observations plus APAC job advertisements scoped to Singapore | 0.69× | 0.69× |
Amsterdam Netherlands · EUR | European product, operations and commercial roles | Netherlands engineering salary records | 0.71× | 0.71× |
Barcelona Spain · EUR | European product, engineering and operations at a materially lower cost point | Spain engineering salary records and sales-rating data | 0.57× | 0.57× |
São Paulo Brazil · BRL | LATAM product, engineering and operations, calibrated level with Bengaluru | Brazil engineering salary records; small sample | 0.48× | 0.48× |
Buenos Aires Argentina · ARS | LATAM remote product and operations; the lowest calibrated market in the set | No robust city sample; modelled from regional postings only | 0.38× | 0.38× |
Dubai United Arab Emirates · AED | Middle East commercial, mobility and operations | One payroll-management salary observation plus a global general-manager posting | 0.74× | 0.74× |
Toronto Canada · CAD | North American product, engineering and commercial roles | Canadian engineering salary records including a senior package near C$211,000 | 0.81× | 0.81× |
Auckland New Zealand · NZD | ANZ commercial and remote operations | No Deel-specific New Zealand sample; modelled from Australian evidence | 0.71× | 0.71× |
Deel does not publish an office directory with headcount, and its remote-first model means a market can carry employees without an office at all. This catalogue therefore ranks nothing by size; it lists the markets where a defensible calibration could be built.
San Francisco anchor medians — the basis of every modeled cell
| Band | Base | Stock | Bonus | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| D1 | $47K | $0 | $1K | $48K |
| D2 | $63K | $0 | $3K | $66K |
| D3 | $84K | $3K | $4K | $91K |

| D9 | $231K | $88K | $52K | $370K |
| D10 | $289K | $150K | $87K | $525K |
| D11 | $394K | $300K | $167K | $861K |
- San Francisco is the anchor because it is the headquarters reference address on Deel's US visa filings. Its medians are the normalized global reference multiplied by 1.05, and every other market is expressed relative to San Francisco here.
- The strongest single offshore observation is an India Software Engineer II package of about ₹58.1 lakh base with ₹11.2 lakh of stock, and a Bengaluru version of the same title at about ₹62.4 lakh base with ₹20.5 lakh of stock. Both sit above the flat 0.48 base calibration for that level.
- New York carries 33 historical H-1B worksite records against 14 for San Francisco, so the largest disclosed US concentration is not the headquarters city. Worksite records are filings, not employees.
- Miami, Tel Aviv, Buenos Aires and Auckland have no usable Deel-specific city sample at all. Their columns are pure model and should be read as a planning envelope.
- Deel processes about $22 billion of payroll a year for its customers and their 1.5 million-plus workers. None of that population is in these tables, which describe pay for Deel's own employees only.
Model rules
- Every modeled cell is the San Francisco median multiplied by the city factor and then by the 26 August 2026 foreign-exchange snapshot.
- Base calibration is flat across the ladder in every market. The research bundle applies one multiplier per city to base pay at every level and offers no evidence of a level-dependent base gradient.
- Total compensation is not flat, because the underlying model discounts equity far less than base offshore. Bengaluru sits at 0.48 of the anchor on base at every level but rises from 0.48 to 0.59 on total between D1 and D11, and Buenos Aires rises from 0.38 to 0.51. That divergence is a deliberate modelling choice about equity, not a base-pay artefact, and it is why the senior rows compress.
- A total compensation cell is base plus target variable pay plus annualized equity value. No employer benefit load, social-insurance cost or notional perk value is added, because that is employer cost rather than pay.
- Equity is shown as an annualized value equivalent and must never be converted into a share count. The share class, strike price, preference stack, dilution and liquidity discount are all unknown.
- Sales roles are not modelled by these factors. Commission plans move independently of geography and are carried in the variable pay section instead.
Variable Pay & Annual Cash Incentive
Deel publishes no company-wide bonus target, no formula, no payout calendar and no attainment history. The band targets below are a research model for comparison. The one part of variable pay with real public evidence is sales, where employee-reported totals sit far above the published base ranges.
| Band | Target | Mechanism | Recent payout |
|---|---|---|---|
D1 Entry / Junior | 0–5% of base | Annual performance bonus or none at all, depending on the function and country. | Not publicly disclosed |
D2 Associate / Specialist | 0–8% of base | Annual performance bonus in operations roles; a commission plan for sales development representatives. | Not publicly disclosed |
D3 Professional / Engineer I | 0–10% of base | Annual performance bonus or none, depending on the function. | Not publicly disclosed |
D4 Experienced / Engineer II | 0–12% of base | Annual performance bonus. Several India engineering records show no bonus component at all. | Not publicly disclosed |
D5 Senior | 5–15% of base | Annual or quarterly performance incentive; sales versions of this band are commission-based. | Not publicly disclosed |
D6 Lead / Staff | 5–20% of base | Annual or quarterly performance incentive; sales versions of this band are commission-based. | Not publicly disclosed |
D7 Principal / Manager | 10–20% of base | Annual or quarterly performance incentive with a team delivery component for managers. | Not publicly disclosed |
D8 Senior Manager | 10–25% of base | Annual or quarterly performance incentive with an organisation delivery component. | Not publicly disclosed |
D9 Director | 15–30% of base | Business, function and individual performance, likely annual and paired with equity. | Not publicly disclosed |
D10 Senior Director / VP | 20–40% of base | Business, function and individual performance, likely annual and paired with equity. | Not publicly disclosed |
D11 SVP / EVP / GM | 25–60% of base | Business-unit outcome weighted, likely annual and paired with a material private equity grant. | Not publicly disclosed |
Employee payout timing and history
Payout inputs, timing and history are all undisclosed: there is no published company performance measure, no business-unit weighting, no individual rating input, no payout month and no FY2024 to FY2026 attainment percentage. Anonymous employee reviews mention performance bonuses, but the evidence is too inconsistent to state a formula. Absence of disclosure is not evidence that a bonus was or was not paid.
Sales and special incentives
Sales is where variable pay becomes visible. In the United States, account executive totals of roughly $137,000 to $234,000 and sales development representative totals of roughly $69,000 to $108,000 appear in public snapshots, both well above the published base ranges for comparable scope. In Australia, sales-rating data puts development representatives at about A$68,000 to A$98,000 base against A$93,000 to A$125,000 on-target earnings, and account executives at about A$97,000 to A$150,000 base with on-target earnings near twice base in many records. UK figures mix base and total and should not be compared with engineering base salary. Quota, accelerators, caps, draw arrangements, payout timing and historical attainment are not disclosed anywhere.
Equity — RSUs, PSUs, Options & ESPP
Deel is a private company, so employee equity here is not a listed-company restricted stock unit programme. Employee-reported sources establish that stock or options exist in some packages and that a four-year vest applies. Almost everything a candidate would need to value a grant is private.
- No BSE, NSE, SEBI or ASX employee-share allotment log exists for Deel, and there is no SEC grant-by-executive log or employee option-exercise register. The only SEC document in the file is a Form D exempt-offering notice from 2 June 2020 and its later amendments, which is a financing filing rather than an equity-plan disclosure.
- Because the pool size and utilisation are private, an employee cannot compute their ownership percentage, their dilution from later rounds or the effect of the preference stack on common shares.
- A private-market indication is not a strike price and not a 409A fair market value. The two can diverge widely, and the 409A price is what determines the tax position on an option exercise.
- There is no evidence in any reviewed source that the December 2024 acquisition of the compensation-management startup Assemble created a new or amended Deel equity plan.
Private-market reference points, not plan disclosures
Vesting — common reported employee schedule
This is the schedule employees report, not a schedule Deel publishes. It says nothing about what happens on leaving: the post-termination exercise window, any early-exercise right, repurchase rights and transfer restrictions are the terms that decide whether vested equity is worth anything, and none of them are public.
Eligibility by hierarchy level
- There is no published eligibility threshold. Employee records show selective grants from roughly the professional level upward, becoming common in scarce-skill engineering and leadership roles, but no rule is disclosed.
- The annualized values shown per band are a modelled value equivalent. They must not be converted into a share count, because the share class, strike price, conversion terms, dilution and liquidity discount are unknown.
- An offshore grant is discounted far less than offshore base pay in this model, which is why the total-compensation gap narrows at senior levels while the base gap does not.
- A Bengaluru Software Engineer II record shows about ₹20.5 lakh of stock, roughly $21,500, which is larger than the entire modelled global equity envelope for that level. Individual grants clearly vary far more than any band range implies.

Annualized planning value (±25%), not the face value of every new-hire grant. Highlighted rows are disclosed grant-date stock awards.
Executive Compensation
There is no executive compensation table for Deel and there cannot be one. A private Delaware issuer with no public reporting obligation files no proxy statement, so salary, bonus, equity and total for every named leader are simply absent from the public record.
These four listed payroll and human-capital companies are shown as context for what disclosure looks like in this industry, not as an estimate of Deel. Every one of these totals is dominated by grant-date equity accounting under public-company rules that do not apply to a private issuer, and Workday's leadership changed after the fiscal year shown. The useful comparison is the ratio column: a listed peer must tell you what its median employee earns, and Deel never has to.
Named Executive Officers & Board
Deel names its leadership publicly and discloses nothing about how any of them are paid. The bars below are empty because there is no figure to plot, not because the roles are vacant.
The official leadership page lists Alex Bouaziz as co-founder and chief executive, Shuo Wang as co-founder and chief revenue officer, Joe Kauffman as president and chief financial officer, Dan Westgarth as chief operating officer, Philippe Bouaziz as executive chairman and chief strategy officer, Yaron Lavi as chief technology officer, Harish Sharma as chief risk officer, Anthony Rodriguez as chief compliance officer and DeAnn Work as global corporate general counsel. Cash, bonus, equity and total are not publicly disclosed for any of them.
Regional heads and other officers
Regional heads and general managers are not separately disclosed either, but their pay is the one executive layer with any public signal: Deel advertised a General Manager for the employer-of-record business at $250,000 to $300,000 and a Head of Consumer Products at $325,000 to $500,000. Those are advertised base reference ranges for open roles, before any equity, and they are the closest public evidence to executive-adjacent pay in the whole file.
Insider Trades — SEC Forms 3/4/5
The insider-trade table is empty by design. Populating it with inferred founder transactions, private-market indications or financing shares would manufacture precision that does not exist.
Reading guide
Benefits & Perks
Deel publishes benefits for its own employees in exactly one place: the benefit list on its United States job advertisements. Everywhere else the only firm evidence is the statutory floor in that country, so the honest split below is between what a posting states and what the law requires.
United States
- Medical — Day-one medical, dental and vision cover. Current US postings state that coverage is effective from the first day of employment. The carrier, the employer premium share, the deductible and whether a health or flexible spending account is offered are not published. [official]
- Retirement — 401(k) plan. Listed on current US postings. The match formula, the vesting schedule and whether there is a year-end true-up are not disclosed, so the plan could be match-free and the posting would read the same. [official]
- Protection — Disability and life insurance. Both appear on current US postings. Benefit multiples, any employee-paid buy-up and whether short-term and long-term disability are both included are not published. [official]
- Support — Employee assistance programme. Listed on current US postings. The provider and the session allowance are not named. [official]
- Leave — 12 paid holidays on some postings. Not every US posting carries the holiday line, and no paid time off policy, parental leave entitlement or sick-leave accrual is published for Deel's own US employees. [official]
Global programs
- Work model — Work from anywhere, globally distributed. Deel's careers page describes a work-from-anywhere model with a team spread across dozens of countries and a high-accountability culture. There is no published office-attendance requirement. [official]
- Equipment — Equipment or internet support reported by employees. Employee reports mention hardware and connectivity support. The allowance amount, refresh cycle and whether it is a stipend or a company-owned device are not published. [reported]
- Time off — Flexible time and paid time off reported by employees. Reported rather than published, and the entitlement necessarily differs by country because the underlying employment contract does. [reported]
- Equity — Stock or options in some packages. Reported across several countries, most consistently in engineering and senior roles. No eligibility rule is published. [reported]
Benefit fields not publicly quantified
One distinction matters more than any other on this page. Deel publishes detailed country hiring guides describing the benefits it can administer for its customers and their workers, and those guides are not evidence of anything Deel gives its own employees. They are excluded here. What remains for Deel's own staff is the US posting benefit list, the statutory floor in each country and a handful of employee reports. Premium shares, match formulas, insurance sums, leave schedules, parental policies, allowances and the annual review calendar are unpublished everywhere.
Performance Review & Pay Progression
Deel publishes advice about performance management for its customers and nothing about its own process. No rating scale, appraisal calendar, merit matrix, promotion rule or distribution curve for Deel employees exists in any public source.

| D11 | No published progression above this band; the C-suite tier is not disclosed | Not disclosed | Modeled planning interval |
The one structural feature worth planning around is that a private company's equity refresh has no public grant calendar and no observable price. At a listed employer an annual refresh lands on a known date at a known share price; at Deel neither is visible, so the cash component of a promotion is the only part a candidate can verify at the time it happens.
Pay progression evidence
Modelled progression, not Deel policy: D1 to D2 typically takes 1 to 2 years for an 8 to 15 percent increase; D2 to D3 takes 1 to 3 years for 10 to 18 percent; D3 to D4 takes 2 to 3 years for 10 to 20 percent; D4 to D5 takes 2 to 4 years for 12 to 22 percent; D5 to D6 takes 2 to 4 years for 12 to 25 percent; D6 to D7 and D7 to D8 each take 3 to 5 years for 10 to 20 percent; D8 to D9 takes 3 to 6 years for 12 to 25 percent; D9 to D10 takes 3 to 6 years for 15 to 30 percent; and D10 to D11 is opportunity-based at 15 to 40 percent plus an equity reset. These are general market heuristics used to make the ladder navigable, not observations of Deel promotions.
H-1B / LCA Visa Footprint — United States
For a company that publishes no salary structure, the US visa file is the closest thing to a government-audited pay record. Labour condition application wages are guaranteed base salary only, so they exclude commission, bonus and equity and must never be compared with a total-compensation figure.

| H1BGrader, Deel US LLC, FY2026 | Minimum $85,000, median $125,050, average $142,663, maximum $240,000 | The aggregator also shows an overall labour condition application score of 97 out of 100 and a USCIS score of 93 out of 100. Filing counts on this source refresh continuously. |
| MyVisaJobs FY2026, current | 47 applications shown with 21 USCIS decisions, of which 18 approvals and 3 denials | That is an 85.7 percent approval rate among displayed decisions. No FY2026 annual average wage is shown in its summary yet. |
| MyVisaJobs FY2025 | 71 certified applications at a $154,443 average offered base | 39 petition approvals against 5 denials. A certified application is a wage and compliance step, not a hire. |
| MyVisaJobs FY2024 | 46 certified applications at a $171,506 average offered base | 17 approvals and no denials among displayed decisions. The average wage has fallen every year since, as the sponsored title mix broadened beyond senior engineering. |
| MyVisaJobs FY2023 | 19 certified applications at a $176,210 average offered base | 13 approvals and no denials. This is the highest average in the series and the smallest sample. |

Selected title / worksite records
| Title | Worksite | Proffered wage | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| VP, Product | Redmond, WA | $195,000 | The highest search-visible FY2026 base, and still far below the $325,000 to $500,000 advertised for a Head of Consumer Products. |
| VP, Customer Success | New York, NY | $185,000 | A vice-president title at a base close to the modelled D10 anchor, before any equity. |
| Growth Marketing Lead | New York, NY | $170,000 | Sits between the modelled D7 and D9 bases; guaranteed base only, with no marketing bonus visible. |
| Senior Software Engineer | Nashua, NH | $125,050 | Exactly the FY2026 median, and a useful sanity check on the modelled D5 base outside a coastal metro. |
| Founding Account Executive | Brooklyn, NY | $110,000 | Base only. A sales role's guaranteed wage says nothing about on-target earnings, which public snapshots put far higher. |
| Accountant | San Carlos, CA | $87,360 | The lowest search-visible record, and evidence that Deel sponsors well outside engineering. |
| Field Application Engineer | Worksite shown only in the filing search snapshot | $85,000 | Matches the FY2026 minimum reported by H1BGrader. |
Reading the data correctly
- A certified labour condition application is a Department of Labor wage and compliance step. It is not a USCIS petition approval, not a visa issuance and not a hire.
- One worker can generate several filings across extensions, amendments, worksite changes and employer changes, so counts overstate people.
- The proffered wage is guaranteed base salary. It excludes bonus, sales commission, options and benefits, which at Deel is precisely where the variable part of a package lives.
- Deel, Deel Inc. and Deel US LLC are grouped differently by different aggregators, and refresh dates differ, which is why H1BGrader and MyVisaJobs disagree on counts. Those discrepancies are preserved here rather than resolved into a single false number.
- The FY2026 quartiles of $99,000, $125,000 and $178,000 are computed from only seven individually search-visible records. They are sample quartiles, not the distribution of the full filing population.
- Fewer than a hundred filings a year makes Deel a small sponsor. This dataset describes a narrow slice of the US workforce and none of the more than 100 countries where Deel employs people.
Key Nuances & Insights
Deel processes roughly $22 billion of payroll a year for more than 40,000 customers and over a million of their workers, and it publishes detailed country guides describing the benefits it can administer for them. None of that describes Deel's own staff. Everything on this page concerns the roughly 7,000 people Deel employs directly, and the customer-facing hiring guides are deliberately excluded from the benefit evidence.
With no proxy statement and no salary structure, Deel's own postings carry the only pay figures the company has actually written down in public: $30,000 to $70,000 for an APAC implementation consultant, $60,000 to $130,000 for a senior backend engineer, $100,000 to $140,000 for a staff product manager, $170,000 to $200,000 for a senior director of operations and $325,000 to $500,000 for a head of consumer products. For a private employer that is stronger evidence than any crowdsourced median.
A $60,000 to $130,000 senior backend engineer range spans more than a factor of two, which no level band does. It spans every location Deel is willing to hire that role in. Reading the top of the range as a US band, or the bottom as a downgrade, both misread the document.
Deel's May 2026 job-level guidance sets out an individual contributor path of junior, specialist, senior and lead, staff or principal, and a management path running to C-suite, and states that global compensation bands typically vary by geography. It is customer-facing advice, it never names Deel's internal codes, and that one sentence about geography is the only company statement supporting a location-adjusted model at all.
A candidate weighing Deel against a listed payroll peer is giving up a purchase plan that typically buys shares at 85 percent of the lower of two prices, which is the most reliably valuable component in a public-company package. There is no equivalent at a private issuer, and no annual refresh whose grant price can be checked on the day it lands.
An account executive and a software engineer sitting at the same research band have almost nothing in common financially. Engineering and product packages are base and equity weighted with modest or zero cash bonus in several records, while sales runs on commission with on-target earnings near twice base in Australian records. One band code covers both, and it should not.
US account executive totals of roughly $137,000 to $234,000 and sales development totals of roughly $69,000 to $108,000 include commission at some unstated attainment. Comparing either with an engineer's base salary is a category error, and comparing a strong year against a published base range makes a sales role look better paid than the guaranteed component supports.
The city model discounts Bengaluru base pay to about 48 percent of the San Francisco anchor at every level. Real records break that pattern upward: one Bengaluru Software Engineer II package carries about ₹20.5 lakh of stock, roughly $21,500, which is larger than the entire modelled global equity envelope for that level. The base multiplier is a floor for strong technical candidates, not a ceiling.
Historical visa worksite records show 33 in New York against 14 in San Francisco and 7 in San Jose. Worksite records are filings rather than employees, but they are the only disclosed geography inside the United States, and they cut against the assumption that the headquarters city is where the US roles are.
Average offered base fell from $176,210 in FY2023 to $171,506 in FY2024 and $154,443 in FY2025, with a FY2026 median of $125,050. The search-visible titles explain it: alongside senior engineers and vice presidents the file now contains an accountant at $87,360 and a field application engineer at $85,000. A broader sponsored title mix pulls the average down without anyone being paid less.
About $300 million of existing shares changed hands in February 2025 at a reported $12.6 billion valuation. That proves a tender happened once. It does not establish that ordinary employees were eligible, what proportion of a holding could be sold, or that another window will open before an initial public offering.
Nasdaq Private Market and Forge indications of $33.67 to $38.92 in August 2026 are derived platform estimates. They are not a public quote, not a 409A fair market value and not an exercise price, and the gap between an indication and the 409A price is exactly what decides the tax bill on an option exercise.
Deel has bought several businesses, including the compensation-management startup Assemble in December 2024. No public source maps inherited grades, retention awards or title conversions onto a single ladder, so title dispersion inside a band is likely and unmeasurable from outside.
No company-wide salary hike percentage, pay freeze, salary cut, attrition figure, median employee pay, campus offer revision or equity plan amendment appears in any credible public source for FY2025 or FY2026. That is a statement about the sources, not about Deel, and it is the single most important habit to keep when reading a private company.
Research control
The natural comparison set is the listed payroll and human-capital group of ADP, Paycom, Paylocity and Workday, and the comparison mostly demonstrates the disclosure gap rather than a pay gap. Each of those companies must publish a chief executive total, a median employee figure, an equity plan, a share reserve and a Form 4 register; Deel publishes none of them. On the evidence that does exist, Deel's advertised senior ranges of $170,000 to $500,000 are competitive with listed enterprise software rather than with payroll processing, while its FY2026 median visa wage of $125,050 sits below what large technology sponsors pay for comparable engineering scope. The offer therefore trades a smaller, unpriceable equity component and no purchase plan against advertised cash that is broadly market rate.
Evidence classification
| Label | Meaning | Examples and permitted use |
|---|---|---|
| official | A Deel job advertisement or company page, a government rule, or a listed peer's filing used for context | Benefit lists on US postings, published salary reference ranges, statutory pension and leave rules, and the four peer chief executive totals |
| reported | Employee-submitted pay, a third-party salary record or a US labour condition application | City anchors, the four-year vesting profile, sales on-target earnings observations and every H-1B wage |
| modeled | The San Francisco anchor multiplied by a city calibration factor and the FX snapshot | Every band cell in every location table, and every variable pay target percentage |
| npd | Not publicly disclosed | Executive pay, the pay ratio, board fees, the equity plan and pool, insider transactions, the review calendar and every benefit top-up outside the United States |
Explicit “Not publicly disclosed” index
Known gaps and diligence before relying on a cell
- 1The two source bundles for Deel are byte-identical, so there was no disagreement between filings to reconcile and no discrepancy to record. The whole file rests on a single research pass dated 26 August 2026.
- 2The C-suite band, D12 in the research architecture, is excluded from the pay ladder entirely because every one of its cells is undisclosed. Carrying a single worldwide executive row would also have dragged every location factor toward one at the top of the ladder and produced impossible offshore cells, so the executive layer is described qualitatively instead.
- 3Base calibration is flat across the ladder in every market because the underlying model applies one multiplier per city at every level. Total compensation is not flat, and the divergence is deliberate rather than an artefact: the model discounts offshore equity far less than offshore base, which is why Bengaluru rises from 0.48 to 0.59 of the anchor and Buenos Aires from 0.38 to 0.51 between D1 and D11.
- 4No employer benefit load is included in any total. Social insurance, superannuation, provident fund and insurance costs are employer cost rather than pay, so every total reconciles to base plus target variable pay plus annualized equity and nothing else.
- 5Sales roles are deliberately outside the location factor model. Commission plans move with quota and attainment rather than geography, and folding them into one interpolated factor would misstate whole markets, so the sales evidence is carried in the variable pay section instead.
- 6Sixteen markets are modelled against a company that hires in more than 100 countries. Four of the sixteen, Miami, Tel Aviv, Buenos Aires and Auckland, have no usable Deel-specific city observation at all.
- 7H1BGrader and MyVisaJobs disagree on filing counts because they group Deel, Deel Inc. and Deel US LLC differently and refresh on different schedules. Both are shown rather than averaged into a single false number.
- 8The FY2026 visa quartiles rest on seven search-visible records. They are a sample, not the distribution of the filing population.
- 9Deel's founding year, fiscal year end and audited financials are not established by any source in the bundle, so they are omitted from the header rather than filled from memory.

Recent News & Workforce Trend
Deel's recent news is about scale, valuation and pre-IPO governance rather than about pay. No company-wide salary hike, freeze, cut, attrition figure or equity plan amendment was found in any credible public source for FY2025 or FY2026.
There is no year-by-year headcount series for Deel, because a private company publishes none. One current figure exists and it comes from job-advertisement boilerplate rather than an audited disclosure, so it should be treated as approximate and as a point in time. No split by country, city or function is available, and attrition is not disclosed at any level.
The Department of Labor's FY2026 third-quarter release refreshed the file behind every Deel visa wage figure on this page, including the $125,050 FY2026 median proffered base.
Deel said ARR crossed $1.5 billion in the first half of 2026 with more than 40,000 business customers and about $22 billion of payroll processed a year. No salary action accompanied the milestone, and the figure is a run-rate claim rather than audited revenue.
The superannuation guarantee rate and the move to payday contributions change how an Australian package should be quoted and compared. Whether Deel quotes inclusive or exclusive of superannuation is not published.
The guide sets out individual contributor and management title ladders and states that global compensation bands typically vary by geography. It is advice for Deel's customers and does not disclose Deel's own internal level codes.
Philippe Bouaziz moved to executive chairman and chief strategy officer in the same change. The reshuffle reads as pre-IPO finance governance; compensation terms for either role were not disclosed.
The round set a new private valuation anchor and the announcement also cited more than a billion dollars of ARR, 35,000-plus customers and 1.5 million-plus workers on the platform. Any effect on grant pricing was not disclosed.
Reported at a $12.6 billion valuation, with General Catalyst joining as an investor. The participant list and any employee allocation were not fully disclosed, so this is not evidence of a standing liquidity programme.
Relevant because it brings compensation tooling in-house and may influence how Deel runs its own bands over time. No public evidence of a new or amended Deel compensation or equity plan followed.
The filing establishes Deel as a Delaware private issuer using exempt offerings. It is a financing notice with no compensation, equity plan or insider transaction content, and it remains the company's only SEC footprint.
