Band Hierarchy

BCG publishes the names of its levels but not a grade catalogue or a salary range for any of them. Associate, Consultant, Project Lead, Principal and partner-and-beyond appear in official Australia and New Zealand careers material, and BCG X advertises engineer, data scientist, designer, lead, principal and partner roles. The B0 to B7 and X0 to X5 codes here are research normalisation labels rather than internal BCG grade codes.

Disclosed executive layer

Chief Executive Officer
Christoph Schweizer, re-elected in March 2025
Named on BCG's own expert profile page. No compensation of any kind is disclosed, because a private partnership files no proxy statement.
Global Chair

Named on BCG's own expert profile page. The role is elected senior leadership rather than a listed-company board chair, and carries no published remuneration.
Global functional leadership

Track divergence

B0 to B3
Everything is cash and the leverage is small. Bonus runs about 6 percent of base at Associate and 13 percent at Consultant, so a Boston Consultant's package is roughly 89 percent base pay.
B4 to B5
Case leadership is where the bonus starts to matter. Target leverage jumps from 13 to 32 percent at Project Leader and to 47 percent at Principal, while base grows only 33 percent across the same two steps.
B6
Partner is a bonus event, not a salary event. Base rises just 5 percent over Principal while the bonus rises about 66 percent, which is why a Partner package is roughly 43 percent variable.
B7 and above
Managing Director & Partner is where ownership begins. Reported leverage reaches 117 percent of base and a further platform bucket appears that is owner or long-term value rather than listed stock. The elected chief executive and global chair roles sit above it with no published pay at all.
X0 to X5
BCG X mirrors the consulting ladder at 0.82 to 1.00 of the mapped consulting anchor and converges on the same single owner level, so there is no separate technical partnership.

Hierarchy qualifications and legacy structures

  • Project Lead in Australia and New Zealand and Project Leader elsewhere describe the same scope; the two should not be counted as separate levels.
  • Senior Associate and Junior Consultant are office-specific bridge titles. Several offices promote straight from Associate to Consultant, so this row will simply not exist in some markets.
  • Partner and Managing Director & Partner must not be collapsed. Public evidence establishes owner status only at Managing Director & Partner, and the reported step between the two is the largest on the ladder.
  • Expert tracks run parallel titles such as Expert Consultant, Expert Project Leader and Expert Principal at comparable pay but with a narrower commercial mandate.
  • BCG X job families are official but no complete BCG X country-by-level pay grid was found in any source, so every technical row is marked modelled.

Critical evidence warning

Boston Consulting Group is a private partnership. It publishes no salary bands, no band minimums or midpoints, no rating scale, no bonus target grid and no executive remuneration of any kind. Every figure below the level names themselves is an employee-reported observation, a government visa wage record or a calibrated model around one, and none of it should be quoted as a BCG pay band.

BCG publishes no city-level headcount anywhere, so this catalogue cannot rank offices by employee count. Boston is identified as the global headquarters and Bangalore, Mumbai and Gurugram as the major India offices; the office-type descriptors come from the bundle's own office catalogue rather than from a BCG disclosure.

  • The Boston column is the anchor. B0 through B7 medians come from United States employee-reported platform records for the BCG management consultant family, cross-checked against official United States posting ranges.
  • Bonus on each row is the arithmetic residual between the reported base median and the reported total median, not a published target, which is why the leverage percentages are irregular rather than round.
  • The X0 to X5 rows are the Boston consulting anchor multiplied by the published technical factors of 0.90 at graduate level, 1.00 at engineer, 0.82 at senior and lead, 0.88 at principal and 0.92 at director.
  • India total compensation runs at roughly 29 percent of the Boston anchor at the most junior band and about 34 percent at the owner level, while base moves from about 30 to 41 percent, so base compresses less than total.
  • Hong Kong is the steepest compression in the file, moving from about 39 percent of the Boston total at the junior end to parity at the owner level. Zurich is the only market above Boston at every band.

Model rules

  • Every modelled cell is the Boston median multiplied by the city base or total factor and then by the 24 August 2026 foreign-exchange snapshot.
  • Anchor markets with their own directly reported band tables are Boston, Bangalore, London, Sydney, Toronto, Singapore, Munich, Zurich, Dubai, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Every other city is that anchor times an explicit published pay index.
  • A total compensation cell is base plus bonus plus any platform long-term bucket. There is no equity component to add, because BCG runs no listed-share plan for employees.
  • No employer benefit load is added anywhere. Australian figures in particular are shown excluding the 12 percent superannuation guarantee, which must be added or removed before comparing an Australian offer with a United States one.
  • Sign-on payments, relocation, client-site travel allowances, retirement contributions and any private ownership value sit outside these cells entirely.

Variable Pay & Annual Cash Incentive

BCG runs a discretionary annual performance bonus and publishes almost nothing about it. Official United States postings confirm that the bonus and a retirement contribution exist; the percentages below are arithmetic ratios derived from reported median components, not an official BCG target grid, and no payout attainment history is published for any year.

ModeledVerifiedThere is no executive incentive plan disclosure of any kind. BCG files no proxy statement, publishes no Summary Compensation Table, no target percentages, no performance metrics, no gates and no payout factors for its chief executive, its global chair or any other officer. The nearest public comparator in the bundle is Accenture, whose FY2025 proxy shows a $29.642 million table total for Julie Sweet against $16.552 million of compensation actually paid, but that is a listed-company equity structure and is not a substitute estimate for private partnership economics.

Employee payout timing and history

No global attainment history exists. BCG does not publish a funding factor, a bonus pool size, a distribution or a payout percentage for 2024, 2025 or 2026, and it does not publish a universal payment date. Employee discussions frequently describe a December or year-end decision alongside continuous case feedback, but no source verifies that as a firmwide calendar, so it is recorded here as low-confidence rather than as a rule.

Sales and special incentives

BCG has no sales incentive plan in the software sense. Commercial responsibility is folded into the discretionary bonus and, at the owner level, into partnership economics. BCG has said publicly that variable-fee arrangements are materially more common in its largest artificial-intelligence cases than across the firm overall; that describes how clients are billed rather than how employees are paid, but it plausibly raises the weight of commercial outcomes at Principal and above.

Equity — RSUs, PSUs, Options & ESPP

BCG is privately held and has no quoted share price, so there is no listed-share restricted stock unit, performance share unit or option plan, no employee stock purchase plan and no employee stock ownership plan trust. The single verified ownership structure is the private Managing Director & Partner programme, and its terms are not public.

Managing Director & Partner ownership and equity programme
Active; the only verified BCG ownership structure
Verified
BCG states plainly that its Managing Directors and Partners are the owners of the firm, and it recruits publicly for a Senior Director of Executive Compensation and Equity Program, which confirms that a formal programme exists and is administered centrally. Buy-in amount, unit or share count, valuation formula, allocation cadence, vesting, forfeiture and repurchase provisions are all private.
Reserve: Not publicly disclosed; more than 2,000 Managing Directors and Partners were reported in March 2025

United States retirement and profit-sharing contribution
Active; a retirement benefit rather than company equity
Verified
Official United States job postings reference an annual discretionary performance bonus together with a retirement contribution. No universal contribution formula, match rate or vesting schedule is published, and the benefit is plan cash rather than any interest in BCG itself.
Reserve: Not applicable; this is a defined-contribution retirement benefit
BCG United States job postings
1979 employee-ownership buyout
Historical; not a current plan
Verified
BCG secured its independence through an employee ownership arrangement completed at the end of the 1970s. It is important context for why the firm is partner-owned today, but it establishes nothing about current broad-based employee equity and confers no rights on anyone hired since.
Reserve: Not applicable
BCG corporate history in the company overview
Listed-share RSU, PSU or stock option plan
Not applicable; no such plan was identified
Verified
No verified firmwide restricted stock unit, performance share unit or stock option plan exists, because there is no publicly traded BCG parent share to grant. Any salary aggregator that displays a stock bucket for BCG is using a platform category to capture owner or long-term value, and it must not be read as listed BCG shares.
Reserve: Not applicable
Absence of evidence across BCG careers pages, benefits pages and all reviewed job postings
  • There is no equity pool to report. A private partnership files no share-plan document, so approval date, exercise price, authorised reserve, shares available and utilisation percentage do not exist as public facts.
  • There have been no BSE, NSE or ASX allotments, because BCG is not listed on any of those exchanges, and there is no Form S-8 registration because there is no United States issuer security.
  • Grant activity by hierarchy level is unavailable at every level. Partnership admission records are private and BCG does not publish how many people are elected in a given year.
  • The absence of employee equity is the single most consequential structural fact in this report. At every level below Managing Director & Partner, the entire package is cash plus benefits, so an offer comparison against a technology company must value that company's equity at zero risk-adjusted equivalence before the two are comparable.

This table is deliberately empty of numbers. A four-year vesting schedule is a public-company convention and BCG has no verified equivalent, so filling it with a 25 percent a year pattern would invent a fact. Partnership interests are acquired through election and buy-in rather than granted and vested, and BCG discloses neither the buy-in nor any holding period.

Eligibility by hierarchy level

  • B0 through B5, from intern to Principal: no verified BCG stock grant of any kind. The package is base pay, a discretionary bonus, benefits and, in the United States, a retirement contribution.
  • B6, Partner and Partner & Director: no verified broad grant. Partner title on its own does not establish owner status in any public evidence, although it is the normal pathway to it.
  • B7, Managing Director & Partner: eligible for the private ownership and equity programme. Election or appointment terms, buy-in and allocation are not disclosed.
  • X0 through X5 in BCG X: identical position to the consulting ladder at the equivalent level. There is no separate BCG X equity instrument despite the technology positioning.
  • Anyone comparing a BCG offer with a technology or listed professional-services offer should treat the entire equity line as zero rather than attempting to impute a partnership value.

Named Executive Officers & Board

Named leadership from BCG's own pages, with the compensation column left as an explicit non-disclosure at every row.

BCG identifies Christoph Schweizer as chief executive officer, Rich Lesser as global chair and Paul Tranter as chief financial officer, and reports more than 2,000 Managing Directors and Partners as the owner population. Regional leadership across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific and the functional practice heads change with the governance cycle and are not published as a remuneration table. There is no board of directors in the listed-company sense, no independent director cohort, no sitting fees, no commission and no annual general meeting resolution on remuneration.

Board compensation framework

ElementAmountNotes
Board structureNot applicableBCG has no listed-company board with independent directors. Governance sits with elected senior Managing Directors and Partners.
Director retainerNot publicly disclosedNo cash retainer, committee fee or chair premium is published for any governance role.
Director equityNot applicableThere is no share to grant, so no annual director stock award, deferred share unit or holding requirement exists.
Meeting attendance feesNot publicly disclosedNo sitting fee schedule is published, and there is no annual report or corporate governance report that would carry one.

Every row in the board table is a genuine absence rather than a gap in the research. A private partnership does not appoint independent directors, does not publish a governance report and does not put remuneration to a shareholder vote, so the standard listed-company board compensation disclosure has no counterpart at BCG.

Regional heads and other officers

No officer below the chief executive has any published compensation element. Because there is no Section 16 reporting obligation, there is also no share-movement trail that would otherwise reveal grant timing, holding sizes or sale patterns for the wider leadership layer. What is visible instead is structural: the March 2025 release put more than 2,000 Managing Directors and Partners against roughly 33,000 employees, so the owner cohort is about 6 percent of the firm.

Insider Trades — SEC Forms 3/4/5

There are no insider trades to show. BCG has no publicly traded security anywhere in the world, so no register of director or officer dealings exists to draw from.

Reading guide

SEC Forms 3, 4 and 5Not applicable. Section 16 reporting attaches to officers and directors of an issuer with registered equity, and BCG has none.
BSE and NSE insider tradesNot applicable. BCG is not listed in India, so there is no Regulation 7 disclosure and no structured digital database entry.
SEBI takeover and substantial acquisition filingsNot applicable. There is no listed BCG security and therefore no promoter or promoter-group register.
ASX director dealingsNot applicable. BCG is not ASX-listed despite a large Australian practice, so Appendix 3Y notices do not exist.
Partnership interest transfersNot publicly disclosed. Admissions, retirements, buy-ins and repurchases among Managing Directors and Partners are private and no valuation is published.
What to do insteadThe correct output is an empty table with this explanation. Populating it from an unrelated listed company or from a partner's personal outside holdings would be misleading.

Benefits & Perks

BCG publishes a global benefits page describing financial, physical, mental and work-life support and states that it offers more than 1,000 benefit offerings across 54 countries. What it does not publish is the terms: insurer names, contribution rates, coverage limits, day counts and employee cost shares are almost all absent, so most rows below confirm that a benefit exists without being able to quantify it.

United States

  • MedicalMedical, dental and vision cover. Explicitly listed in BCG benefits material and in United States job postings, with posting snippets describing low employee cost-sharing on some plans. Carrier, plan tiers and premium split are not published. [official]
  • WellbeingMental health support, fitness reimbursement and second medical opinions. All three are named explicitly on BCG's benefits page. Reimbursement caps and provider networks are not disclosed. [official]
  • ProtectionLife assurance and disability cover. Listed as a standard United States benefit. Multiples of salary and elimination periods are not published. [official]
  • RetirementRetirement contribution alongside the annual discretionary bonus. United States postings reference a retirement contribution as a distinct component of the package. No match formula, contribution percentage or vesting schedule is published, so this cannot be valued. [official]
  • FamilyPaid parental leave and family-building support. United States postings reference parental leave together with adoption, surrogacy and fertility support. Week counts and reimbursement limits vary and are not published. [official]

Global programs

  • ScaleMore than 1,000 benefit offerings across 54 countries. BCG's own framing of the programme, organised around financial, physical, mental and work-life support. The count is a company statement; the individual terms behind it are almost entirely unpublished. [official]
  • Work-lifeFlexible and reduced-hours working. Described explicitly in BCG Australia and New Zealand careers material and echoed in the global benefits page. Eligibility and any pay adjustment are local decisions. [official]
  • Mental healthMental health support and second medical opinions. Named on the global benefits page. Session limits, provider networks and cost to the employee are not published. [official]
  • DevelopmentCoaching, mentoring, training and mobility. BCG describes personalised coaching, mentoring, training, feedback and mobility across projects, industries, functions and locations as part of the offer. No learning budget figure is published. [official]
  • MobilityClient-site travel and relocation support. Travel allowances, relocation and sign-on payments sit outside the base and total figures shown here and are negotiated per offer. No schedule is published. [npd]

Benefit fields not publicly quantified

Benefits are the weakest-evidenced part of the BCG picture, and for an unusual reason: the benefits exist and BCG names them, but almost no terms are attached. A 401(k) with a stated match, a defined family floater sum insured or a published parental leave week count are all things a listed peer discloses and BCG does not. Where a row shows a number here, it is a government rule such as the 12 percent Australian superannuation guarantee, the 3 percent United Kingdom minimum employer pension contribution or the 26 weeks of Indian maternity leave, not a BCG commitment. Anyone valuing a BCG offer should ask for the plan documents directly, because they cannot be reconstructed from public sources.

Performance Review & Pay Progression

BCG publishes its performance principles and none of its performance mechanics. It states that it assesses quality of work, impact for clients and society, and feedback from colleagues and managers, and that development runs through personalised coaching, mentoring, training and mobility across projects, industries, functions and locations. What it does not publish is a rating scale, a distribution, a calendar or a hike grid.

Not publicly disclosed

There is no published rating scale and no rating labels, so no rating-to-increase table can be constructed for any market.
There is no disclosure of a bell curve or forced distribution, and equally no statement that one does not exist, so neither claim can be made.
The global annual compensation review month is not publicly disclosed. Employee accounts commonly describe continuous case feedback plus a year-end compensation decision, but the timing is not verified as universal across offices.
The bonus payment date is not publicly disclosed. December or year end appears frequently in employee discussion and nowhere in official material.
The current average annual increase is not publicly disclosed for any market, and no firmwide 2025 or 2026 salary-hike percentage, pay freeze or salary cut was found in any source.
Promotion increase percentages are not published. Progression manifests as movement onto the next level's pay, which is why this report shows the step between band medians rather than a percentage BCG has stated.
Mid-year market corrections have no reliable global schedule. They may occur locally or for individual retention cases, but no cadence is disclosed.
Probation and confirmation terms are country, role and contract specific and no universal public policy was found.
No auditable BCG-wide lateral hire premium was found. Premiums may exist by skill and office, but a universal percentage would be speculation.
BCG publishes broad people and inclusion initiatives but no granular compensation-equity audit or controlled equal-pay regression was retained for this report.

The promotion clock is better evidenced than the money attached to it. Typical timings are two to three years from Associate to Consultant, two to three years from Consultant to Project Leader, two to three years from Project Leader to Principal and two to four years from Principal to Partner, after which admission to Managing Director & Partner is variable and governed by partnership economics rather than by a time-in-grade rule. None of these carries a published increase percentage, and all of them are triangulated from career-path material and employee accounts rather than stated by BCG.

Pay progression evidence

Modelled progression from the Boston band medians, not BCG policy: Associate to Consultant is roughly a 71 percent step in base and 80 percent in total; Consultant to Project Leader is about 18 percent in base but 39 percent in total; Project Leader to Principal is about 13 percent in base and 26 percent in total; Principal to Partner is only about 5 percent in base yet 24 percent in total; and Partner to Managing Director & Partner is about 51 percent in base and 111 percent in total. The pattern is the important part. Below Project Leader the money follows the salary line, and from Principal upward almost all of the increase arrives through bonus leverage and then through ownership, which is why late-career BCG pay is far more variable than the base column suggests.

H-1B / LCA Visa Footprint — United States

United States labour condition application data is the only government-grade wage evidence in this file, and it is the one place where BCG pay is visible without relying on an employee submission. Labour condition application wages are guaranteed base salary only, so they exclude the discretionary bonus, sign-on payments, relocation and any owner economics, and must never be compared with a total compensation figure.

Reading the data correctly

  • A labour condition application wage is the guaranteed base salary the employer attests to pay. It excludes the discretionary bonus, which is 32 percent of base at Project Leader and 47 percent at Principal, so the visa record understates a senior consultant's package by a wide margin.
  • Filing counts are not headcount. A single employee can generate multiple filings through renewals, amendments and worksite changes, and different aggregators count those differently.
  • City coverage is partial. Dallas, Houston, Miami and Austin appear because they have published city records; Boston, New York and Chicago filings exist but are not broken out in the retained sources.
  • Averages and medians are mixed across sources. MyVisaJobs publishes an average proffered salary and H1BData publishes a median, and the gap between $195,547 and $190,000 is mostly definitional rather than a real year-on-year move.
  • No approval rate is shown because none could be established reliably. Any approval percentage quoted for BCG from these sources would be an artefact of which filing type the source counts.

Key Nuances & Insights

01There is no employee equity, at any level, anywhere

This is the single most consequential fact about BCG pay and the easiest to get wrong. From intern to Partner there is no restricted stock unit, no performance share unit, no option, no purchase plan and no ownership trust. The entire package is cash plus benefits. Anyone comparing a BCG offer with a technology or listed professional-services offer must value the BCG equity line at zero rather than imputing a partnership value that does not apply to them.

02Partner and Managing Director & Partner are not the same job

The reported step between them is the largest on the ladder: base rises about 51 percent and total roughly 111 percent, from $472,300 to $998,500 in Boston. Public evidence establishes owner status only at Managing Director & Partner. Partner is the pathway, not the destination, and an offer or a promotion described loosely as partner should be pinned down before it is valued.

03The bonus, not the salary, is where seniority is paid

Base pay grows only about 5 percent from Principal to Partner while total grows 24 percent, and from Partner to Managing Director & Partner base grows about 51 percent while total more than doubles. Leverage runs 6 percent of base at Associate, 13 at Consultant, 32 at Project Leader, 47 at Principal, 75 at Partner and 117 at Managing Director & Partner. Modelling a BCG career on the base column alone will understate the top of it badly.

04A platform stock bucket is not BCG stock

Salary aggregators show a small stock line at Associate and Principal and about $110,000 at Managing Director & Partner. There is no listed BCG share, so those buckets are a platform category capturing owner or long-term value. This report carries them as other compensation rather than as equity, precisely so that no reader treats them as vesting shares with a price.

05Geographic compression is level-dependent and runs both ways

Bangalore sits at about 29 percent of the Boston total at the junior end and 34 percent at the owner level. Hong Kong runs from about 39 percent to parity, the steepest compression in the file. Tokyo does the opposite: it starts at about 54 percent of Boston and finishes near 51 percent, because senior Japanese consulting pay lags rather than converging. A single country multiplier would misstate all three.

06Country pay is set locally, not on a global USD scale

Equivalent titles carry materially different dollar value after conversion, and that is a pricing decision rather than a currency artefact. BCG competes with local strategy-consulting markets in each city, which is why Zurich sits above Boston at every band while São Paulo sits at about a quarter of it.

07The India average hides three different populations

Bangalore contains client-facing consulting, BCG X technology work and Global Business Services support functions in one office. An all-employee India average will materially understate core consulting pay and overstate support-function pay, which is why this report prices only the consulting and BCG X ladders and says so rather than blending them.

08Australian offers need normalising before they can be read

The superannuation guarantee rose to 12 percent from 1 July 2025 and Australian packages are quoted both inclusive and exclusive of it. Every Australian figure in this report excludes super. A Sydney Project Lead package quoted at 278,000 Australian dollars including super is a different offer from the same number excluding it, and the difference is roughly 30,000 dollars.

09The visa record proves base pay and nothing else

The 380 FY2024 labour condition applications at a $190,000 median are the highest-quality wage evidence in the file, because they are a government attestation rather than a submission. They are also base only, so at Project Leader and above they omit the largest part of the package. Use them to sanity-check a United States base number, never to check a total.

10Review mechanics are genuinely unpublished, not merely unfound

BCG publishes what it assesses, which is quality of work, client and societal impact and colleague feedback, and it publishes nothing about how that converts to money. There is no rating scale, no distribution, no review month, no hike matrix and no payout history. Any claim of an 80, 100 or 120 percent BCG payout is office-specific or individual anecdote, and this report declines to build a grid out of it.

11BCG X titles are official but BCG X pay is modelled

Engineer, data scientist, product designer, lead, principal and growth-principal roles are all advertised by BCG itself. No public country-by-level BCG X pay grid exists, so every technical row here is the mapped consulting anchor times a published factor between 0.82 and 1.00, and it is marked modelled throughout rather than presented as an observation.

12Selectivity is the context for every number here

BCG has said it ended 2025 with more employees than it began, received 1.7 million applications and hired under 1 percent of them. That does not set pay directly, but it explains why the firm can hold graduate offers flat, as Australian reporting indicated for the 2026 intake, without a hiring problem.

Research control

BCG sits inside a three-firm group with McKinsey and Bain that shares both its economics and its silence. All three are private partnerships, all three publish no chief executive compensation and no pay ratio, and the level ladders map closely: Associate to McKinsey business analyst and Bain associate consultant, Consultant to McKinsey associate and Bain consultant, Project Leader to McKinsey engagement manager and Bain manager, Principal to McKinsey associate partner and Bain principal, and Managing Director & Partner to senior partner at both. The mapping is by scope rather than by any published crosswalk, and it does not imply equal pay at equal level. The only listed comparator with a real disclosure is Accenture, and its FY2025 chief executive package is roughly 77 percent equity, which makes it useful for showing what BCG does not have rather than for estimating what BCG pays.

ReportedAn employee-submitted median on a named salary platform, or a certified labour condition application wage from a public visa aggregation. The backbone of every band figure in this report. Treat as a market observation subject to sampling and title-mapping error, not as a BCG range.

Not publicly disclosedNo auditable public figure exists, or the concept itself does not apply to a private partnership.Shown explicitly rather than filled with a substitute. This class is unusually large for BCG and that is the finding, not a gap in the research.

Known gaps and diligence before relying on a cell

  1. 1Every band figure in this report is an employee-reported platform median or a model built on one. BCG has never published a salary range, so there is no official figure anywhere in the file to reconcile them against, and the usual cross-check of filing against platform is unavailable.
  2. 2The most senior band, Managing Director & Partner at seniority 8, is a genuinely per-city observation rather than one global executive number: the source tables give $998,500 in Boston, 32.0 million rupees in Bangalore, 620,000 pounds in London and 950,000 Australian dollars in Sydney. It is therefore kept in the band list and drives the top of the geographic interpolation legitimately. The elected chief executive and global chair roles sit above it, are excluded from the band list entirely because no pay is disclosed for them, and are carried in the executive section instead.
  3. 3No employer benefit load is added to any cell. Total compensation here is base plus bonus plus any platform long-term bucket, and nothing else. Australian superannuation at 12 percent, United Kingdom pension at the statutory 3 percent minimum, Indian Provident Fund and United States retirement contributions all sit outside these figures and must be added separately when comparing offers across countries.
  4. 4The Senior Associate and Junior Consultant row is modelled by interpolation between the reported Associate and Consultant medians, because the bridge title is used in only some offices and is thinly sampled. In an office that promotes straight from Associate to Consultant, the row simply does not exist.
  5. 5All BCG X technical rows are modelled from the consulting anchor using the bundle's published factors of 0.90, 1.00, 0.82, 0.82, 0.88 and 0.92. No public BCG X pay grid was found for any country, so the technical ladder carries a materially lower evidence grade than the consulting ladder despite the official titles.
  6. 6Glassdoor and other India aggregators mix core consulting, BCG X, knowledge team and Global Business Services roles under one employer name. This report prioritises title-specific platform observations and uses the broader aggregators only as a senior-range cross-check, which is why some published India averages sit below the figures shown here.
  7. 7Japan is the one market where total compensation compresses downward with seniority, from about 54 percent of Boston at the junior end to about 51 percent at the top, while base compresses upward. The pattern comes from a sparse triangulated and modelled sample rather than from a dense reported one, so it carries less confidence than the India, United Kingdom or Canada calibrations.
  8. 8Non-anchor cities are the anchor market median times an explicit published pay index. Riyadh, Shanghai, São Paulo, Mexico City, Johannesburg, Warsaw, Milan and Madrid have no direct BCG observation of their own and should be read as planning envelopes only.
  9. 9The report date and foreign-exchange snapshot are 26 and 24 August 2026 respectively. Because BCG pay is entirely cash, every cross-country comparison here moves directly with the currency table and carries no equity component to dampen it.

BCG's recent news is about scale, selectivity and the shift into artificial intelligence work rather than about any compensation event. No firmwide salary action was announced in any reviewed source, and none of the items below carries a disclosed pay implication.

Reported alongside $13.5 billion of 2024 revenue, up 10 percent, with more than 2,000 Managing Directors and Partners.

33,500
2026 employees
The overview figure at 26 August 2026, roughly 1.5 percent above the 2024 number.

Growth is modest and steady rather than dramatic, at roughly 1.5 percent across two years on the published figures. BCG does not disclose attrition, city-level headcount, country headcount or any split between consulting, BCG X and Global Business Services populations, so the only workforce structure visible anywhere in the sources is the owner ratio: more than 2,000 Managing Directors and Partners against 33,500 employees, or about 6 percent of the firm.

26 Aug 2026
BCG reports 33,500 employees and $14.4 billion of annual revenue

The overview also puts 40 percent of revenue in technology and artificial intelligence work across more than 100 cities in over 50 countries. It sets the scale of the firm and carries no salary disclosure.

BCG About Overview
28 May 2026
BCG says 2025 ended with more employees than it began and under 1 percent of applicants were hired

The firm received 1.7 million applications and also noted that variable-fee arrangements are materially more common in its largest artificial-intelligence cases than across the firm overall. That is client pricing rather than an employee bonus formula, but it raises the weight of commercial outcomes at senior levels.
