How Amgen Pays
Amgen's GCF 1 to GCF 11 career framework, where a specialist and a manager can share a level, priced across 21 markets alongside broad annual RSUs, 0 to 200 percent performance units and options, a $24.69M CEO package at 160:1, and 133 FY2026 H-1B filings.
Band Hierarchy
Amgen runs a Global Career Framework, but it has never published the matrix. Only GCF 4A, 5A, 6A, 6B and 11 are confirmed by a named Amgen posting or employment agreement; GCF 1 through 3 and GCF 7 through 10 are analytical groupings built from employer-posted titles. The framework is deliberately multidimensional: a hands-on specialist and a people manager can sit at the same GCF level, so a title alone never fixes a level.

Hierarchy qualifications and legacy structures
- GCF 4A Senior Associate, GCF 5A Specialist, GCF 6A Senior Specialist and Principal Architect and GCF 6B Associate Director are each confirmed by a named current Amgen careers posting, mostly from the Hyderabad technology centre.
- GCF 11 is confirmed by Thomas Dittrich's employment and expatriate documents filed with the Form 8-K of 19 May 2026, which state the level explicitly alongside a CHF 1.070 million base salary.
- GCF 1 through GCF 3 and GCF 7 through GCF 10 are analytical groupings. Amgen has published neither a global title catalogue nor a level-by-level salary grid for them, and the numbering on those rows should not be quoted as Amgen nomenclature.
- A forensic one-to-one mapping to AbbVie, Gilead, Biogen or Regeneron levels is not publicly disclosed. The only defensible external equivalence is title family, which is why every peer mapping on these rows is expressed that way.
- Amgen acquired Horizon Therapeutics in 2023. Horizon equity plans survive only to settle acquired awards, and no evidence was found of a separate Horizon career-band structure still operating inside Amgen in 2026.
- The non-employee director row is a governance package rather than an employment band and is excluded from the range chart.
Peer-level mapping
| Band | Archetype | Peer mapping | Caveat |

Critical evidence warning
Amgen does not publish salary ranges, band minimums or midpoints for its Global Career Framework, and it publishes no bonus target or equity grant table below the executive layer. The base column on every non-executive row here is an employer-posted range for one named role at one location, not a corporate band. The bonus and equity columns on those rows are modeled planning envelopes. Use them for orientation, never as a quote of an Amgen pay band.

Global Footprint & Pay Arbitrage
Amgen reported approximately 31,500 staff at 31 December 2025, about 13,000 of them outside the United States across more than 50 countries. Thousand Oaks is the pay anchor because it carries by far the deepest employer-posted range coverage. Hyderabad is the fastest-growing site and the only market with a usable employee-submitted pay series, and every other market is calibrated against the Thousand Oaks median.

Amgen does not publish site-level headcount, so this catalogue does not rank offices by employee count. The only site-scale disclosure in any bundle is the Hyderabad technology centre, where Reuters reported roughly 300 staff when the $200 million investment was announced in February 2025 against a stated ambition of about 2,000 by the end of that year. No current Amgen New Zealand employing office was substantiated in any reviewed source, so New Zealand is omitted from this table rather than modelled.

- The Thousand Oaks column is the anchor. Eight of the thirteen bands take their base median directly from an employer-posted Amgen salary range for a named role at that site, which is unusually strong evidence for a company that publishes no salary grid.
- South San Francisco is the only United States market with a measured premium, and it is level-dependent: the Associate Scientist example sits about 4.2 percent above Thousand Oaks while the Principal Scientist example sits about 11 percent above it.
- Hyderabad total compensation is fitted across six employee-submitted observations running from an Associate at 0.09 of the Thousand Oaks total to a Senior Manager at 0.29. The line is extrapolated to 0.44 at the top of the ladder, and the directly observed GCF 6A base of 4.8 million rupees sits above the fitted base line.
- Rotkreuz carries the only non-United States executive observation in the whole corpus. Thomas Dittrich's CHF 1.070 million GCF 11 base converts to about $1.334 million, roughly 1.07 times the United States named-executive average base, which is why Switzerland is modelled as level-dependent and only reaches parity at the top.
- GCF 11 and chief executive rows are proxy disclosures converted for comparison only. They are global executive values, not a local pay range in any selected city.
Model rules
- Every modeled cell is the Thousand Oaks median multiplied by the city base or total factor and then by the 25 August 2026 foreign-exchange snapshot, which is a Bank of Russia cross-rate table.
- A total compensation cell is base plus modeled target bonus plus modeled annualized equity. Sign-on payments, make-whole awards, relocation and one-time retention awards are excluded, which matters most at GCF 11 where Dittrich's package carried a CHF 4.7 million make-whole grant, a CHF 4.0 million cash inducement and a CHF 5.8 million retention bonus on top of the annual target.
- No employer benefit load is added anywhere. The United States 401(k) design is worth up to 10 percent of eligible pay, but that is employer cost rather than pay, so it stays in the benefits section and out of every total.
- India, Australia, Switzerland and South San Francisco carry separate junior and senior factors because the bundles show real level-dependent compression. Every other market is flat, because no evidence of a slope exists for it.
- Eleven markets carry no Amgen pay observation at all: Mumbai, Tampa, Washington, New Albany, Holly Springs, Juncos, Breda, Cambridge in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Tokyo and Dubai. Their factors are labour-market models, not evidence, and every cell derived from them should be read as a planning envelope.
Variable Pay & Annual Cash Incentive
Amgen discloses its executive annual cash incentive in unusual detail and discloses nothing about the employee bonus grid. The 2025 company performance score of 136 percent of target, the chief executive's 150 percent target and the 100 percent named-executive target are company disclosures. Every band target below GCF 11 is modeled.

Employee payout timing and history
Amgen publishes no bonus-target grid by GCF level and no payout history for the broad employee population. Current United States postings state only that a role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus or a sales incentive plan. The 136 percent 2025 result applies to the executive plan and must not be read as a companywide multiplier. Every band target below GCF 11 shown here is modeled from the disclosed executive anchors and the shape of large-cap biopharmaceutical practice.
Sales and special incentives
Amgen does not disclose quota structures, commission rates, accelerators or draw arrangements for its commercial organisation, and Australian sales-representative figures in the bundles are SEEK industry estimates rather than Amgen bands. Sales roles in this model carry the same modeled targets as their level peers, which will materially understate on-target earnings for quota-carrying sellers.
Equity — RSUs, PSUs, Options & ESPP
Amgen is a United States issuer, so employee equity means restricted stock units, performance units, stock options and an employee stock purchase plan rather than an Indian-style employee stock ownership plan. The strongest disclosure in the entire filing set is unusually broad: eligible employees generally receive an annual restricted stock unit grant, with award size and type determined by salary grade and performance level.
- An indicative ratio of outstanding main-plan rights to outstanding rights plus the remaining reserve is 24.1 percent, calculated as 11,098,368 divided by the sum of 11,098,368 and 35,004,385. That is not Amgen's reported utilisation rate: exercises, cancellations, share withholding, performance-unit outcomes and historical plan activity all sit outside the calculation.
- At the 25 August 2026 reference price of $444.70, the 35,004,385 shares remaining under the main plan represent roughly $15.57 billion of notional capacity. That is an arithmetic illustration, not a cash cost, an accounting liability or a grant commitment.
- Across all listed plans, 38,968,804 shares remained available at the 2025 close, of which the main 2009 Plan accounts for about 90 percent.
- The weighted-average grant-date fair value of 2025 restricted stock units was $273.10 per unit, so a hypothetical 100-unit annual grant carried about $27,310 of grant-date value in that cycle.
Equity plan capacity and grant activity
Vesting — common reported employee schedule
Restricted stock units and stock options granted on or after 1 April 2025 generally vest 25 percent on each of the first, second, third and fourth anniversaries. Grants made before that date generally vested in equal instalments on the second, third and fourth anniversaries only, so the change materially front-loaded new awards: a 2026 joiner reaches a quarter of the grant a full year earlier than a 2024 joiner did. Performance units run three-year performance periods and settle in a single instalment on certification, between 0 and 200 percent of target. Non-employee director restricted stock units vest immediately with deferral available.
Eligibility by hierarchy level
- The eligibility disclosure is broader than most online anecdotes suggest. Amgen states that eligible employees generally receive an annual restricted stock unit grant, so the common claim that stock begins only at Senior Manager should not be treated as policy.
- Award size and type are determined by salary grade and performance level, but Amgen publishes no grade-by-grade share schedule. There is no defensible public answer to what a GCF 4A or GCF 6A grant is worth.
- Instrument, not eligibility, is the clearest hierarchy rule. Certain management-level employees receive annual performance units on top of restricted stock units, and certain executive-level employees receive stock options.
- Certain management and professional employees may receive restricted stock units on hire, so a new-hire grant is available below the executive layer but is not universal.
- The only public grant values anywhere in the ladder are the GCF 11 example at a CHF 4.5 million annual target, the chief executive at $18.00 million of 2025 stock and option awards, and the non-employee director award at $220,000 a year.

Named executive target equity
| Executive | Target | Units / structure |
|---|---|---|
Robert A. Bradway Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer | $18.00M of 2025 stock and option awards | $12,599,589 of stock awards and $5,399,996 of option awards at grant-date value, a performance-heavy design in which the equity component alone is more than nine times base salary. |
Thomas Dittrich Executive Vice President and incoming Chief Financial Officer at GCF 11 | CHF 4.5M FY2026 annual long-term incentive target | CHF 2.25 million of performance units, CHF 1.35 million of non-qualified options and CHF 0.90 million of restricted stock units, a 50 / 30 / 20 split. Separately he received a CHF 4.7 million make-whole restricted stock unit award, a CHF 4.0 million cash inducement, a CHF 5.8 million retention bonus earned over two years and a CHF 250,000 relocation allowance. |
Peter H. Griffith Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2025 | $5.30M of 2025 stock and option awards | $3,709,745 of stock awards and $1,589,962 of option awards, the same grant values as Murdo Gordon in the same year. |
David M. Reese Executive Vice President, Research and Development | $4.77M of 2025 stock and option awards | $3,338,760 of stock awards and $1,430,914 of option awards. |
Non-employee director Board and committee service | $220,000 annual restricted stock unit value | Granted annually on top of a $115,000 cash retainer, vesting immediately with a deferral election available. |
Executive Compensation
2025 Summary Compensation Table values from the 2026 proxy statement. Stock and option figures are grant-date accounting values rather than cash realized, and the two diverge sharply for a package where equity is more than nine times base salary.
Reading the package
Salary was about 7.8 percent of the chief executive's 2025 reported total, the annual cash incentive about 15.8 percent and stock and option awards about 72.9 percent. The mix is less equity-dominated than a large-cap software chief executive but still leaves the package turning on grant-date valuation, three-year performance-unit certification and the share price rather than on salary.
Amgen's chief executive sits third in this set, 31.7 percent below AbbVie and 15.2 percent below Gilead but 4.2 percent above Biogen. Peer totals are highly sensitive to grant-date accounting, one-time awards and fiscal-year timing, and none of them equal realized pay. Peer pay ratios are also not directly comparable because each issuer uses its own median-employee methodology and its own international mix.
Named Executive Officers & Board
Amgen's 2026 compensation story is a finance leadership transition. Amgen announced on 19 May 2026 that Peter Griffith is retiring as Chief Financial Officer and that Thomas Dittrich is returning to the company; Dittrich joined as an Executive Vice President on 1 July 2026 and was due to become Chief Financial Officer on 1 September 2026. Robert Bradway remains Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Thomas Dittrich's employment and expatriate documents are the single most valuable disclosure in this report, because they are the only public Amgen document that names a Global Career Framework level and prices it. GCF 11 carries a CHF 1,070,000 base salary, a 100 percent Global Management Incentive Plan target, a CHF 4,500,000 annual long-term incentive target split CHF 2.25 million performance units, CHF 1.35 million options and CHF 0.90 million restricted stock units, a CHF 4.7 million make-whole restricted stock unit award, a CHF 4.0 million cash inducement, a CHF 5.8 million retention bonus earned over two years, a CHF 250,000 relocation allowance for the United States move and severance protection of two times salary plus target bonus for a qualifying termination within two years. The salary-review timing follows Amgen's regular process without a stated global month.
Board compensation framework
| Element | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Annual cash retainer | $115,000 | Paid to each non-employee director; the employee chair receives no director pay. |
| Annual restricted stock unit award | $220,000 | Granted annually, vesting immediately with a deferral election available. |
| Lead independent director | $50,000 | Additional retainer on top of the standard cash retainer. |
| Audit Committee chair | $30,000 | The largest committee chair retainer, reflecting the workload. |
| Other committee chairs | $20,000 | Paid to the chair of each committee other than Audit. |
| Committee member meeting retainer | $12,500 | Paid to committee members in addition to the standard retainers. |
The standard 2026 non-employee director package is $335,000 before any lead-director or committee add-ons, split $115,000 cash and $220,000 equity. Individual director totals for 2025 by name were not captured in any reviewed bundle, so this report shows the programme rather than the outcome.
Regional heads and other officers
Amgen discloses compensation only for its named executive officers. Senior vice presidents, executive directors and vice presidents have no compensation table anywhere in the filing set, and the only public pay evidence at those layers is a single employer-posted Executive Director range of $266,637 to $360,745. The proxy does record that non-CEO named executive officers received a 3.5 percent base increase for 2026 and describes that as consistent with the United States staff population, which is the one public clue about the merit budget outside France.
Insider Trades — SEC Forms 3/4/5
Amgen is Nasdaq-listed, so the governing record is SEC Section 16 Forms 3, 4 and 5. Indian exchange filings and SEBI takeover disclosures are not applicable to Amgen Inc. in any sense. An acquisition line at no stated price is a restricted stock unit or performance unit converting into shares, and a withholding line is shares surrendered to cover the exercise price or the tax.

Benefits & Perks
Amgen's benefit disclosure is uneven. The United States retirement design is documented in Form 11-K filings and is unusually generous, while most other markets are visible only through statutory floors or employee submissions. Everything below is labelled by what actually supports it.
United States
- Retirement — 5 percent employer core contribution plus up to a 5 percent match. The core contribution is paid regardless of whether the employee defers anything, and the match sits on top of voluntary deferrals, so the potential employer retirement value reaches 10 percent of eligible pay before any health benefit is counted. [official]
- Retirement — Automatic enrolment at 5 percent rising to 10 percent. New participants are enrolled at a 5 percent deferral that increases automatically by one percentage point a year until it reaches 10 percent unless the employee changes it. The plan permits deferrals up to 30 percent of eligible compensation subject to statutory limits. [official]
- Health and protection — Medical, dental, vision, life, disability and flexible spending accounts. Current Amgen postings list the full offering, but employee premium shares, plan tiers and eligibility waiting periods are not published in any reviewed source. [official]
- Leave — Paid time off schedule not publicly disclosed. No universal United States paid time off, holiday or parental leave schedule was located in the reviewed sources, which is a genuine gap rather than an absence of the benefit. [npd]
Global programs
- Equity — Annual restricted stock unit grant for eligible employees. The broadest benefit disclosure Amgen makes. Eligible employees generally receive an annual restricted stock unit grant, with size and type set by salary grade and performance level. [official]
- Equity — Employee Stock Purchase Plan. 3,813,679 shares remained available at the 2025 close, but the discount, offering period and lookback design are not published in any reviewed source. [official]
- Growth — Learning, career mobility and internal posting. Learning and career mobility are consistently disclosed themes, and internal-mobility postings are the source of much of the Global Career Framework evidence in this report. Specific learning platform subscriptions, certification caps and sabbatical policy are not published. [official]
- Working model — Flexible work environment. Flexible working and employee wellbeing appear consistently in Amgen's human capital material, but no companywide office-attendance rule was located. [official]
Benefit fields not publicly quantified
The United States paid time off and parental leave schedule, employee premium shares for medical cover in every market, the India insurer and sum insured, Amgen Australia's above-statutory benefits, country pension contribution rates across Europe, and the entire Canada, Singapore, Japan and United Arab Emirates benefit picture are all not publicly disclosed. They are recorded as such rather than estimated. Where a row here shows a statutory figure, it is the legal floor in that country and not evidence of an Amgen enhancement.
Performance Review & Pay Progression
Amgen publishes almost nothing about how performance converts into pay. Current job and internal-mobility language evidences rating labels such as Exceeds and Far Exceeds, but the complete scale, the review calendar, the rating-to-increase matrix and any distribution rule are all undisclosed. The one hard number in the whole area is a France-only 3 percent collective agreement.

Two disclosures give partial visibility. The France 2026 collective agreement set a 3 percent base-salary increase budget effective 1 March 2026, allocated according to where an employee sits against market bands, which is strong evidence of a market-positioning philosophy but binding only in France. Separately, the proxy records a 3.5 percent 2026 base increase for non-CEO named executive officers and describes it as consistent with the United States staff population, which is the closest thing to a public United States merit signal.
Pay progression evidence
Modeled progression, not Amgen policy: the employer-posted ranges imply roughly 7 percent from the entry band to GCF 3, 18 percent from GCF 3 to GCF 4A, 22 percent from GCF 4A to GCF 5A, 16 percent from GCF 5A to GCF 6A, 13 percent from GCF 6A to GCF 6B and 11 percent from GCF 6B to GCF 7 on base pay at Thousand Oaks. Those are gaps between posted midpoints for different roles, not the increase an individual receives on promotion, and Amgen publishes no time-in-band rule to attach to them. At GCF 9 and above the equity component grows faster than cash, so the promotion economics shift from salary to grant value.
H-1B / LCA Visa Footprint — United States
Amgen is a moderate H-1B sponsor by large-cap standards, filing 133 labour condition applications in FY2026 under its exact Amgen Inc. entity. Labour condition application wages are proffered base salary only, so they exclude restricted stock units, performance units and bonus and should never be compared with a total compensation figure.

| Dataset | Result | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| H1BGrader exact Amgen Inc. FY2026 sponsor page | 133 applications at a $141,006 median and a $140,150 mean | The salary-distribution anchor for this report, because it matches the exact sponsor entity rather than a name grouping. |
| H1BGrader historical median series | $135,227 in FY2025, $129,204 in FY2024 and $121,975 in FY2023 | A steady nominal upward trend of roughly 5 to 8 percent a year across the three prior years. |
| H1BGrader USCIS sponsor page | 105 new and 267 continuation FY2025 approvals against 2 denials | An approval rate of about 99.47 percent on the surfaced counts. |
| MyVisaJobs broad Amgen employer grouping | 314 FY2026 applications, 87 I-129 approvals and no denials | Updated 18 August 2026. Different entity matching, refresh timing and filing definitions mean this cannot be combined with the exact-entity count. |

Reading the data correctly
- Labour condition application wages are proffered base salary. They exclude restricted stock units, performance units and the annual bonus, which for a GCF 6A or above package is a material share of total compensation.
- City-level percentiles are not publicly disclosed for Amgen in any surfaced authoritative source, so this report shows one national row rather than estimating city medians it cannot support.
- The 25th percentile in the national row is reconstructed from the published prevailing wage level counts and medians. It is an analytical estimate, not a published figure.
- The exact-entity and broad-grouping aggregators disagree sharply, at 133 against 314 applications for the same fiscal year. Both are preserved separately rather than averaged or combined.
- A labour condition application is a Department of Labor attestation, not a USCIS adjudication. Certified applications exceed petitions, and petitions exceed actual employees, so approval rates should never be inferred from application counts.
Key Nuances & Insights
Current Amgen postings put a hands-on Specialist Information Security role and a Manager role at the same GCF 5A, and a Senior Specialist or Principal Architect alongside a Senior Manager at GCF 6A. Any mapping that assumes Manager equals one level and Specialist equals another is wrong on Amgen's own evidence.
The 10-K states that eligible employees generally receive an annual restricted stock unit grant. The common claim that Amgen stock begins only at Senior Manager is not supported by any disclosure, and treating it as policy will cost a candidate leverage in a junior negotiation.
Amgen says award size and type are determined by salary grade and performance level, then publishes no grade-by-grade schedule. The only public grant values in the entire ladder are the GCF 11 CHF 4.5 million target, the chief executive's $18.00 million and the director's $220,000.
Grants made on or after 1 April 2025 vest 25 percent at the first anniversary, whereas earlier grants generally had no first-anniversary tranche and started in year two. A 2026 joiner therefore reaches a quarter of the grant a full year earlier than a 2024 joiner did on the same nominal award.
Certain management-level employees receive three-year performance units on top of restricted stock units, and those units settle anywhere between 0 and 200 percent of target. The 2023 to 2025 cycle paid 124 percent, so recent history is above target but the leverage cuts both ways.
A 5 percent core contribution paid regardless of deferral plus up to a 5 percent match can be worth 10 percent of eligible pay. On the GCF 6A anchor that is roughly $15,800 a year before any health benefit, which is larger than the modeled annual bonus at several junior bands.
Amgen announced a $200 million technology-centre investment in February 2025 with roughly 300 staff at the time and an ambition of about 2,000 by year end, focused on data, digital and artificial intelligence. That talent mix pushes India pay upward relative to a traditional shared-services benchmark.
A single 8-K exhibit states a Global Career Framework level and its economics: GCF 11 at a CHF 1.070 million base, a 100 percent incentive target and a CHF 4.5 million long-term incentive target. Everything else in the framework is inferred, which makes this one document disproportionately load-bearing.
The 2025 company score of 136 percent flowed into every named executive's cash award with no further discretion, producing identical attainment for all five. That is a strong signal that the plan is mechanical at the top, and it says nothing about how the broad employee bonus behaves.
The United States figures are employer-posted base ranges, the India figures are employee-submitted total pay and the Australian figures are industry estimates. Dividing one by the other produces a number that looks precise and is not, which is why this report calibrates a level-dependent line instead of quoting a single ratio.
No authoritative dataset separates external hires from internal promotees at any Amgen level. Dittrich's make-whole, inducement and retention awards show how far a senior lateral package can sit above steady-state pay, but that is one executive rather than a pattern.
H1BGrader's exact entity shows 133 FY2026 applications while MyVisaJobs' broad grouping shows 314 for the same year. The gap is entity matching and filing definitions, and no labour condition application count is ever a headcount.
Research control
Amgen's chief executive pay of $24.69 million sits third in this biotechnology set, 31.7 percent below AbbVie and 15.2 percent below Gilead but 4.2 percent above Biogen, and its 160:1 ratio is far below the ratios large-cap software companies report largely because the $154,123 Amgen median employee is high and drawn from a workforce that is roughly 59 percent United States based. On the employee side the Thousand Oaks employer-posted ranges track the Southern California biopharmaceutical market rather than the Bay Area technology market, which is exactly why the South San Francisco premium shows up and grows with level.
Evidence classification
| Label | Meaning | Examples and permitted use |
|---|---|---|
| Verified | An Amgen or SEC filing, an Amgen careers posting that states its own salary range, or a government rule. | Executive pay, equity plans, vesting terms, the Dittrich GCF 11 package, headcount, retirement plan design and statutory benefit floors. |
| Reported | Employer-provided ranges mirrored by a job board, employee-submitted pay records or third-party market estimates. | The Thousand Oaks base anchors, the Hyderabad total-pay series, the Sydney SEEK estimates, the United Kingdom submissions and the H-1B wage distributions. |
| Modeled | The Thousand Oaks anchor multiplied by a city calibration factor and foreign exchange, inside a planning envelope. | Every bonus and equity component below GCF 11, the GCF 8 and GCF 10 rows entirely, and every city without a direct Amgen pay observation. |
| Not publicly disclosed | No source in any of the three research bundles supports a figure. | Recorded as such rather than estimated. |

Known gaps and diligence before relying on a cell
- 1The bundles disagree on David Reese's title. One describes him as Executive Vice President, Research and Development and the other as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. The compensation figures are identical in both, so this report uses the research and development title from the narrative report and records the conflict.
- 2Robert Bradway's 4 March 2026 Form 4 reports 119,782 options exercised in both the transaction table and the derivative table, while its explanatory footnote says 119,872. This report uses 119,782 and preserves the discrepancy rather than silently correcting a filing.
- 3H1BGrader's exact Amgen Inc. entity reports 133 FY2026 labour condition applications at a $141,006 median, while MyVisaJobs' broader Amgen grouping reports 314 applications and 87 I-129 approvals. Different entity matching and filing definitions make the two impossible to combine, so both are preserved.
- 4Neither bundle contains a benefit load, so no employer benefit cost has been stripped out of any total here. The United States 401(k) core and match, worth up to 10 percent of eligible pay, is deliberately reported in the benefits section and excluded from every base, bonus, equity and total figure.
- 5Every bonus and equity component below GCF 11 is modeled. Amgen publishes no bonus-target grid and no employee grant table, so those columns are planning envelopes calibrated on the disclosed executive targets rather than observations. Only the base column on those rows carries evidence.
- 6GCF 8 and GCF 10 have no direct observation of any kind and are interpolated between their neighbours. Their level numbers are analytical, since Amgen has published no GCF 7 to GCF 10 title crosswalk.
- 7The Hyderabad calibration is fitted across employee-submitted total-pay observations that are not monotonic: the Associate Director submission reads below the Senior Manager submission and the Director range spans 2.8 million to 10 million rupees. The fitted line smooths that noise rather than treating each sample as a level median.
- 8Eleven of the twenty-one markets carry no Amgen pay observation at all. Their factors are labour-market models built to keep the footprint table complete, and they are flagged as such in the model rules rather than presented as evidence.
- 9The Employee Stock Purchase Plan share reserve is disclosed while its discount, offering length and lookback are not, so the plan cannot be valued from public sources at all.
- 10New Zealand appears as a coverage-only state in one bundle because a page contract asked for it. No current Amgen New Zealand employing office was substantiated, so it is omitted from this report entirely rather than shown with a modelled factor.
- 11No companywide 2026 salary freeze, salary cut, restructuring or campus offer revision was located in any reviewed source. That is an absence of evidence rather than evidence that no local action occurred.

Recent News & Workforce Trend
Amgen's 2026 compensation story is a finance leadership transition and a fast-growing India technology centre rather than a companywide pay action. No global salary freeze, cut or across-the-board adjustment was located in any reviewed source.
Amgen publishes no prior-year headcount comparison, no attrition percentage and no site-level employee counts, so there is no multi-year workforce trend to plot. The only growth signal anywhere in the corpus is the Hyderabad build-out, which if achieved would represent roughly 6 percent of global staff at a single site inside a year and would materially change the company's cost-of-labour mix.
Total revenue rose 10 percent year over year and product sales rose 9 percent. Stronger results improve the incentive-plan backdrop but carry no workforce payout promise.
Current information-security roles at the technology centre state their Global Career Framework level explicitly, providing the clearest public evidence that a specialist and a manager can sit at the same level.
The Amgen Retirement and Savings Plan Form 11-K confirms a 5 percent employer core contribution regardless of employee deferral plus up to a 5 percent match, with a separate 4 percent core plan in Puerto Rico.
Peter Griffith is retiring and Thomas Dittrich returned as an Executive Vice President on 1 July 2026, becoming Chief Financial Officer on 1 September 2026 on a CHF 1.070 million base with a CHF 4.5 million annual long-term incentive target.
Robert Bradway exercised options at $156.35 and surrendered 84,285 shares at $379.27 to cover the cost and tax. The filing carries an unresolved footnote discrepancy over the share count.
A France-only collective agreement allocates increases according to where an employee sits against market bands. It is local practice and must not be generalised to the global merit budget.
About 13,000 staff sit outside the United States across more than 50 countries, with 35.0 million shares still available under the main equity plan and 2025 equity expense of roughly $494 million.
The composite score reflected revenue of $36.751 billion, non-GAAP net income of $11.837 billion and pipeline, technology and workforce metrics, and flowed into every named executive's cash award without further discretion.
Reuters reported roughly 300 staff at the site at the time and an ambition of about 2,000 by the end of 2025, focused on data, digital and artificial intelligence talent.
